About Jael Ribeiro — integrative therapist, Wrexham & online
I'm Jael. I offer online therapy and counselling for adults in English and Portuguese. I work with people who feel stuck in cycles of binge eating, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, neurodivergence or grief — and who are ready to feel less stuck, and to move towards feeling more calm, confident and connected to themselves.
About me
It's about meeting you where you are and supporting you to understand yourself more clearly. This includes your thoughts, feelings, and the patterns of behaviour that have shaped your life so far.
Together, we work towards greater self-understanding, self-compassion and emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of safety, freedom and confidence so that meaningful, lasting change becomes possible.
Clients tell me I'm warm, approachable, professional and a good listener. I work collaboratively to discover your unique needs and goals, and I aim to provide a neutral space where you feel heard, understood, and clear on how to move forward.
I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship where with acceptance, empathy and attunement present, change can happen. In situations where you have preference for cognitive or coaching tools, this becomes an collaborative process where we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Together, we’ll work to recognise your strengths and improve your quality of life.

My Approach
I'm an integrative therapist, which means I believe a range of therapeutic tools serves clients better than any single approach in isolation. My core way of working is person-centred: therapy is led by you, your pace, and what feels most important.
Person-centred
Client-centred and relational. Therapy shaped around you, your pace, and what matters most.
Nervous system regulation
Supporting emotional balance through an understanding of the body's stress response.
CBT principles
Exploring thoughts, beliefs and behavioural patterns in a structured but flexible way.
Coaching principles
Goal-oriented tools to help you move forward and build on your strengths.
Somatic tools & EFT
EFT (tapping) and body-based approaches to support the mind-body connection.
Trauma & shame informed
A consistent thread throughout all work — particularly important for eating, neurodivergence and bereavement.
What makes therapy work
In my experience, both as a therapist and as a client, I've come to realise that good therapy isn't only about techniques. It's about the quality of the therapeutic relationship.
I work towards offering a safe and accepting space so that you can feel at ease sharing what matters to you. Therapy can be a place where acceptance, safety, attunement and support are present enough within the relationship that deeper, lasting change becomes possible.
If something here resonates and you feel I might be the right therapist to support you, you're very welcome to get in touch.
Professional Background
I hold a Diploma in Counselling, a Diploma in Eating Disorders and have completed advanced training in bereavement support, including with Cruse Bereavement Support. My work is also informed by ongoing training in anxiety, neurodivergence, nervous system regulation and trauma-informed approaches.
I'm a Senior Accredited Member of the NCPS and a Registered Member of the BACP, and I adhere to the NCPS ethical framework. I hold an up-to-date DBS certificate and am registered with the ICO.
